General Referrals

IMPORTANT: please read the Wolverhampton referral guidelines which includes email addresses. NB you must use an NHSmail account to send emails to these addresses to protect patient identifiable data or you will be in breach of GDPR.

Normal routine referrals (apart from for suspect glaucoma) in Wolverhampton are on GOS 18 via GP.

On receipt at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary, the referral will be reviewed by a consultant according to the Referral Assessment Service(RAS) protocol and prioritised according to the details in your letter. The RAS is effective if your letter is clear and contains reason for referral, relevant findings and a suggested clinic and priority.
