NTW and Durham LOC have concerns that currently have not been addressed however NuTH are very keen to proceed. The LOC would welcome thoughts and feedback from members to help us shape our ongoing conversations.
Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Foundation Trust (NUTH) Ophthalmology Services is adopting a new Eye Care Electronic Referral System (EeRS) which connects primary care optometrists with providers of NHS specialist and hospital eyecare services.
These new changes will allow for direct referrals and improve the communication link between Primary Care Optometry and Hospital Eye Services. The change will simplify and speed up the referral pathway by reducing the need for GPs to forward on the referrals. It supports image-sharing, direct two-way communication (including feedback to referrers), and advice and guidance.
