Our macular colleagues within NuTH have requested that all Wet AMD urgent referrals are annotated with date and time of examination.
These should theoretically all be same-day referrals, but please ensure that the date and time of examination are clearly noted. Please inform patients that the macula clinic remotely triages by urgency and aims to contact patients within two weeks for their appointment.

Emergencies (24/7 emergency line) that need to be seen within 48hours: Call the EED doctor via 0191 569 9952
Urgent referrals to be seen within 2 weeks: email referral directly to the medical records; email@example.com
Then call 0191 5699072 to inform medical records that an urgent referral has been emailed (they only work weekdays no weekends or bank holidays) so a call needs to be made during these hours.
Please call the next working day if required.

Should any patient require a same-day emergency referral following routine sight testing, please telephone the Eye Doctor on call at CDDFT on 07785 276 044 or the main hospital switchboard on 01325 380 100 to ask for advice.
