Important Advice re Implementation of the NHS Safety Charter

Dear All,
Last week an email went out to all Optical Contractors from the NHS South East Optometry team detailing a range of new measures that they stated practices must follow to implement the NHS Safety Charter. Please click here for a copy of the email sent. In the email, they also say that NHS England has engaged with the representative bodies of POD (Pharmacy, Optical and Dental).
From an email received last Friday, it transpires that the meeting between NHS England & ONFC isn’t scheduled until later this week. LOCSU have therefore issued the following advice:
‘LOC’s and practices are advised at this time that there is no requirement to complete or return the paperwork and are advised to await the outcome of national discussions.’
National discussions are due to take place to discuss the content of the charter and its applicability and proportionality for primary care optical practices. For now, please await further guidance.
