Education Event At Southlands Hospital: Wednesday 2nd November

17 October 2022

Education Event Wednesday 2nd November 2022

The ophthalmology department at Southlands Hospital, Shoreham-by-Sea are intending to reinstate the regular education events that were held pre-COVID and are planning a series of evening meetings.

West Sussex LOC would like to let you know about the first event, a face-to-face meeting and lecture by ophthalmologist Mr Masoud Teimory on Wednesday 2nd November 2022.

The lecture title is “The Eyes and Cognitive Artificial Intelligence” and Mr Teimory will be discussing how CAI can transform eyecare of the future – how CAI can help with the processing of diagnostic imaging – OCT analysis, visual field analysis etc in management of diabetic eye disease, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Mr Teimory is founder of an AI company working within this area (http://www.cai.vision/team/ for more information) and I’m sure this will be an interesting and thought-provoking talk.

The meeting will start at 6pm with light refreshments followed by a lecture for 30-40 minutes – plus an opportunity for an informal tour of the eye department for anyone interested.

Due to CPD rules, this will be a self-directed learning event.

This is a great opportunity to meet up with colleagues and interact with our local ophthalmology team.
Please encourage other work colleagues to support this event too – and to sign up to WSLOC emails by contacting our administrator office.westsussexloc@gmail.com to hear about future education events and news.

For catering purposes, I would be grateful if you could let us know if you are planning to attend and if you have any dietary requirements.

I look forwards to seeing you on the 2nd November.

Lorna Partridge
Chair, West Sussex Local Optical Committee
