Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2021
An invitation for all Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians, Contact Lens Opticians, Pre-Reg Optometrists, and Pre-Reg Dispensing Opticians within Coventry and Warwickshire region.
The 2021 AGM was held on Thursday 13th of May 2021 virtually via Zoom and held a peer-review session for CET points for optometrists and independent prescribers.
Jason Rice stood down as Chairman and was thanked for his service and hard work as chairman for many years. Jon Belcher was elected as the new Chair, proposed and seconded via a show of hands across attendees.
Spa Medica Coventry
SpaMedica in Coventry held an accreditation evening for optometrists on Wednesday 2nd September 2020 for post-operative cataract patients to be seen in community practice. This also included a tour of the brand new Tile Hill hospital which opened in July 2020. Due to social distancing only a small number of invitations were permitted, therefore future accreditation evenings are planning to be held. AGM 2020
Coventry and Warwickshire LOC hosted the 2020 AGM on Tuesday 19th May via Zoom. All committee members agreed to host the meeting virtually which was a great success with an attendance of 80+ professionals. Jason Rice opened the meeting with the chairman’s report which was focussed on the challenges of COVID-19 within eyecare in Coventry and Warwickshire. Jason also thanked the three committee members who were stepping down for their hard work over the years. Kiran Bola introduced the treasurer’s report which displayed healthy accounts.
Dr Nicola Logan presented a CET online lecture on myopia control which was a great insight into the future of myopia and how Optometrists can be involved. Following on from this, three new LOC members were announced after being newly elected by the AGM attendees, and were welcomed onto the committee.
