Enhanced Services:  General Information

Enhanced Services allow accredited optometrists to assess, monitor, and manage a range of eye conditions within primary care. These services provide patients with faster access to care closer to home, while helping to reduce pressure on GP practices, A&E departments, and Hospital Eye Services (HES).

The services are run through  Primary Eyecare Services   and as of June 24 are operational throughout  all boroughs of North Central London.

The following services are currently operational and available to practices that have successfully completed the onboarding and accreditation process. Patients are generally eligible if they are registered with a GP within North Central London, or within an area where PES holds an active contract for the relevant service.

Current Enhanced Services include:

· Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS)

· Pre-Cataract Assessment

· Post-Cataract Assessment

· Glaucoma Repeat Readings Service (GRRS)

· Medical Retina Enhanced Imaging Referral (Volumetric OCT)
