Atropine Shared Care Clinic

University of Bradford — Faculty of Health and Social Care

Do you have patients who would benefit from low-dose atropine for myopia management? The University of Bradford is offering a dedicated shared care service to prescribe and supply 0.01% atropine (Ryjunea®) for eligible children.

Ryjunea® Licensing Criteria:

  • Age: 3–14 years
  • Refraction: -0.50 D to -6.00 D
  • Progression: Documented progression of ≥ 0.50 D per year

Initial Assessment: An initial comprehensive appointment in the Myopia Management Clinic (MMC) is required to obtain baseline measurements and determine suitability for treatment (Fee: £60).

Ongoing Cost: Ryjunea® is currently £49.98 per month plus delivery (this fee covers all follow-up aftercare appointments within the MMC).

Shared Care Model: All other routine eye care—including sight tests, contact lens aftercare, and dispensing of spectacles or contact lenses—continues to be provided by the patient’s primary optometric practice.
