National Briefing & Compliance Reminder for North Yorkshire Contractors

This is a quick but IMPORTANT reminder for all our General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) contractors across North Yorkshire. The window for the annual GOS Complaints Submission for the 2025/26 financial year is currently open. Please note that completing this data collection is a strict contractual requirement under the General Ophthalmic Services Regulations 2008. Under these regulations, all contractors must declare the number of written NHS complaints received for GOS in their practice.

All submitted data will be collated by the NHS Business Services Authority and shared directly with NHS England and your local Integrated Care Board (ICB).

Hints and Tips for Your Submission

To ensure a smooth and compliant submission process, please review these key administrative guidelines from the Provider Assurance Ophthalmic team:

• ODS Code Required: Access to the data collection form requires your unique ODS code. If you are unsure of your code, you can look up your practice using NHS Digital’s ODS Portal.
• Nil Returns: If your practice received zero written NHS complaints during the 2025/2026 financial year, you must still complete the submission – simply enter ‘0’ within the data capture field.
• Verification: You must confirm the name and email address of the person completing the form. Review your information carefully on the final review page before submitting.
• Audit Trail: Once submitted, you will receive an official confirmation email. Please retain this email copy for your practice audit records.
