To confirm the condition you suspect should be referred urgently please consult the College of Optometrists guide to urgency of referrals
For urgent referrals it is good practice to ask the patient to contact your practice if they haven’t heard in the expected time frame and document this on your record. If a patient contacts you then you should endeavour to chase the referral with the hospital.
The following hospitals in the area covered by the confederation’s area accept urgent referrals:
