New Cross accepts Cataract and YAG referrals. Patients may be seen at either New Cross or Cannock. It may not be the patients choice which.

NB As part of the enhanced cataract referral module on Opera, all cataract referrals must be sent exclusively to Cannock hospital for initial processing.

Following clinical triage:

• Complex cases will be transferred to New Cross hospital
• Routine cases remain at Cannock hospital for surgery

If a low complex patient would prefer surgery at New Cross hospital, please note this clearly on the referral form and arrangements can be made by the hospital during triage.

Otherwise referrals for cataract can be made on a GOS18 via GP. Make sure you include the reason you are unable to refer via Opera.
