Funded Training Opportunities
East Yorkshire LOC are offering funding for training and development opportunities to support the clinical and professional development for the Community Optometry workforce.

What can be funded?
Applicants can select the training provider / institution and course of their choice.
Training opportunities may cover the following areas:
• Core Competency
• Professional Certificates
• Professional Higher Certificates
• Professional Diplomas
• Independent Prescribing (IP)
• Other opportunities not listed here will also be considered.
For courses where placements or supervision is required, only course fees can be funded.
Who is eligible?
The opportunity is available to Community Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians and Contact Lens Opticians.
Applicants are required to be GOC registrants on the Ophthalmic Performers List for England. Applicants must be working within a GOS registered Optometry Practice in East Yorkshire and Humberside for a minimum of 70% of their time.
What does the funding cover?
Applicants will need to pay the first 25% toward their course fees. Course fees claimed are capped at £3375.
The funding team will then reimburse applicants for the costs incurred (with proof of payment). On confirmation of funding, the workforce funding team will contact with confirmation of approval and claim form.

How will I know if you’ve received my Expression of Interest?
Expressions of Interest must be submitted via email. You will receive a confirmation of receipt reply. If you have any further queries please use the ‘contact us’ page on the EYLOC website.
Please note that all funding applications are subject to committee decision. Therefore, please apply for workforce funding with ample time before course start date.
How will I know if I’ve been successful in gaining funding?
Once we receive your application, a panel of Local Optical Committee representatives will consider each request and you will be informed of the outcome via email.
