In response to the COVID 19 pandemic the Covid Urgent Eye Service was started with the aim of taking pressures of GP’s and local eye casualty departments. Acute eye conditions can be self referred by patients, by pharmacists and GP practices to accredited optometric practices. The system used the OPERA IT platform to upload patient records and refer onwards if necessary.
