Buckinghamshire Community Ophthalmology Service Update
9 May 2024
The Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) Community Ophthalmology Service has now been running for 6 months, having taken over provision of this service from Operose Health.
All patients transferred from Operose to the new BHT Community Ophthalmology Service (COS) who were due an appointment up to now have been offered a face to face appointment. Patients due for a review will be offered an appointment in line with their planned review date.
Clinics are run from Buckingham Community Hospital and Chalfont & Gerrards Cross Hospital.
Following referral into the service, patients will be offered an appointment at one of these clinic locations via letter.
For those patients we hold a mobile telephone number for, we will be able to send them a link to the Patient Portal, which allows them to manage their appointment and review appointment details and access a map. This is aligned with the Trust text reminders which allow patients to confirm, decline or re-schedule their appointments.
There is a call centre number for patients: 01296 322110. This line is open 09.00-16.30 Mon-Friday with a voicemail facility for patients out of hours.
