Emergency Referrals to Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary

These are to the Wolverhampton Eye Casualty at:

Emergency Referral Unit, New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton Road, Wolverhampton, WV10 0QP

Call on 01902 695805 / 695800. The triage team will discuss with you whether the patient should be sent immediately or next day and an appointment time will be offered to the patient.

A walk in service is available weekdays 8am-5pm and weekends 8am-4pm. Outside these hours the Patients should be advised to present at with a GOS18 at the Emergency Department (A&E) at New Cross Hospital.

 

Emergency Referrals to Eye Casualty at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre (BMEC)

These are to BMEC at:

Eye Casualty, City Hospital, Dudley Rd, Birmingham B18 7QH

BMEC/Sandwell Hospitals’ urgent or emergency email address (via NHSmail only): Swbh.team-eyereferrals-urgentcare@nhs.net

Once sent, you must follow up with a phone call to 0121 507 4440 / 507 4151 confirm the email has been received and actioned (and an appointment has been made if it was an urgent referral)

The triage team will discuss with you whether the patient should be sent immediately or next day and an appointment time will be offered to the patient.

Casualty is open: Monday to Saturday 09.00 until 19.00

Sunday and bank holidays 09.00 until 18.00

NB If referring to Emergency or Urgent Care via Opera following a CUES assessment you still need to telephone the triage nurse and send a referral letter by hand with the patient.
