    1. Luton & Dunstable Annual Cataract Accreditation and Teaching Event – Wed 6 Dec
      We have been advised of this upcoming event, as below. Please bear in mind the NHS obligation to offer patient choice when considering using any Direct Cataract Pathways. L&D say:

      “Dear all,

      The Eye Department at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital would like to invite local Optometrists to attend the annual cataract shared-care reaccreditation and education event. This scheme allows for direct patient referrals for Cataract Surgery from accredited local Optometrists who carry out pre and post-assessments for eligible patients.

      On Wednesday 6th December 2023 starting at 6.15pm

      Location: COMET ground floor, L&D Hospital, Lewsey Road, LU4 0DZ

      This event is mandatory for local Optometrists to attend if they wish to continue participating in the scheme. Those Optometrists who have already attended an event this year at Moorfields/Addenbrookes are not required to attend but can do so if they wish.

      There will be talk by Ms Subash (Consultant Ophthalmologist) on “Myopia and its clinical significance

      CPD points have been applied for. In the event these are not approved in time, there is the option of self-directed CPD (one point).
