Electronic optometry referrals

NHS England in its latest guidelines suggested that all optometrists referrals should be done electronically. Moorfields Eye Hospital was awarded significant funding to facilitate this. It means that optometry referral to the eye clinic will be done using nhs.net email address and not via the GP. This pathway was supposed to go live during December 2023. However, SWL ICB has not signed off this pathway due to cost considerations.
