Proposed merger of MSW LOC with KRT LOC

Kingston, Richmond and Twickenham (KRT) LOC and MSW LOC Chairs are proposing the merger of MSW LOC with Kingston, Richmond and Twickenham (KRT) LOC for the following reasons:

  1. To better reflect NHS reorganization (Southwest London (SWL) integrated care system (ICS) has been formed July 2022)
  2. To make efficiencies by reducing duplication of time and cost thus offering better value to local contractors/ performers
  3. To increase capacity to a larger talent pool of engaged committee members who can share the increasing workload (growing needs to join in ICS and clinical network meetings and the emails and comms associated with these).
  4. To facilitate better succession planning and increase options for a future Chair and other officer roles.
  5. To offer flexibility in responsibilities: with increased engaged members, we may be able to have different members taking ownership of different projects e.g., MECS/Cataract/Glaucoma/Learning disability planning, CPD, finance, local Hospital engagement.
  6. To improve diversity in the LOC, to include key providers e.g., more members from different backgrounds: KRT LOC has limited Boots participation, MSW LOC has no Specsavers, in a merger both would be represented across the SWL ICS.

The MSW LOCĀ  held an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on 21.02.2024 18.45 via Zoom, where this proposal was agreed unanimously.
