What CET Do You Need? and FODO News.
12 February 2021
We have 3 items for you today:
- Future CET Events – How can we help you?
We are in the last year of our CET cycle before we move onto the new Continued Professional Development (CPD) way of getting points. We will share guidance from the GOC in due course to update you on the changes and what CPD involves.
As this is the final year of the cycle, you will need to ensure that you have achieved 36 points by the end of 2021, with a minimum of 6 points this year (even if you have over 30 points already).
We appreciate the last year has been tough and there will most probably be a significant demand for CET points for Optoms, DOs and CLOs as fellow professionals have had the impact from covid, shielding, home schooling, looking after relatives and simply balancing between work/home.
As a result we would like to know what competencies you are lacking in so we can help organise specific CET events, by completing a short form on the link below:
Herts LOC CET Survey
Please send back your votes and comments by close of business on Monday 22nd February. If there is anything you would like to add or discuss regarding CET beyond the scope of the form, you are welcome to email us at HertsLOC@gmail.com. We are very grateful for your help in planning future CET events.
Kind regards
Amisha Pau
CET Coordinator
Herts LOC - Dry Eye Guidance
HVCCG have asked us to forward the following email. It’s really for information so that Optoms know what GPs and Pharmacists are advised and the guidance around it:
Dear practitioner,
In May 2020, the Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Team (PMOT) at HVCCG published guidance on the management of dry eyes. In line with this guidance patients should be encouraged to self-purchase treatments for mild to moderate dry eyes. Patients should not be asking their GP to prescribe treatment for these conditions. PMOT have also recently published an FAQ document for patients explaining the guidance and the options available. This has been circulated to the GPs and community pharmacists within the area.
