2025 CPD Grant Delay

The continuing professional development (CPD) claim window for 2025 has been delayed after a request from NHS England, Primary Care Support England (PCSE) has confirmed.
Usually, the annual window opens in June or July. The delay is a result of the General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) fee for 1 April 2025–31 March 2026 not yet being confirmed.
Due to the CPD grant value and the GOS fee being part of the same set of regulations, the claim window and the GOS fee uplift are announced at the same time.
Conversations around the GOS fee are ongoing, OT understands.
Once these conversations conclude the date for the CPD claim window will be discussed, the AOP said.
The delay means registrants will not be able to claim for CPD undertaken in 2024 until later in the year. The AOP noted that this is likely to be in the autumn.
PCSE said that it will update the ophthalmic community in due course. Further updates will be published on the PCSE website.
The AOP advised that members are not required to take any action.

Claims for CPD training undertaken between 1 January to 31 December 2024 The window opened late on 8 December 2025 and will close on 31 March 2026. The payment for this claiming period is £596. Claims should be made via PCSE.
