Optometrist Manager at Still & Bedford
I have worked in healthcare for 17 years. I began my journey in Boots in the pharmacy whilst I completed my first degree in Biomedical Sciences, then switched over to optics 10 years ago – initially still at Boots, where I undertook my pre-reg training.
Since qualifying as an optometrist I have worked mainly in independents as a sole resident, alongside locum work.
I have served on the AOP Council since 2017 bar a short hiatus. Through this work I have developed a deeper understanding of the industry, as well as a national network of peers. I aim to use this to help streamline local services as well as improve communication pathways with our colleagues in secondary care.

I am an optometrist and former Dispensing/contact lens optician. Part of my role on the LOC is the development and delivery of CPD with the CPD team. I served on the LOC prior to becoming an optometrist and also on the SE Wales ROC along with being on the board of directors with other optical organisations. I have a range of experience within optics across primary and secondary care. Paediatric eye care (DCH) and contact lenses (RBH) are two of clinics I can be found doing at hospital and I also work in practice, split nearly equally between hospital and practice.
My aims are seeing better shared care schemes for Dorset whilst also ensuring we are maximising and up skilling all the professions found in practice with every opportunity we have. I also aim to try and help create better links between primary and secondary care.
