Chair: Mark Shelton
After qualifying in 2012, I began my professional journey with a high street Optician. In 2014, I transitioned to an Independent Optician. Today, I split my time working as an Optometrist and the Head of Clinical Development, overseeing clinical practices across 24 locations throughout the UK. My commitment to the optometry profession extends beyond my practice. In 2015, I joined my Local LOC, where I served as Treasurer from 2016 to 2024. In 2024, I was honoured to be elected Chair of my Local LOC, a role that allows me to drive forward initiatives and support the advancement of our profession. I am deeply passionate about enhancing the field of Optometry and I’m dedicated to using my position to support growth and development of Optometry within the community.
Outside of my professional life, I am an avid traveler, with a keen interest in exploring different countries and cultures. This passion for travel enriches my perspective and allows for different perspectives on the industry.

I’ve been on the committee since 2017. I am a Dispensing Optician and worked for a large multiple for 20+ years, before becoming a Sight Loss Advisor for Wakefield District Sight Aid.
Fun fact – I took up running in January and recently completed my first 10K!
Treasurer: Imran Siddique
I have been practicing as an Optometrist for 20 years! I love being outdoors, whether hiking in the Yorkshire Dales or cycling.

I have met so many contacts during my time on the committee. It has been brilliant to be able to expand my network outside my Independent Practices.
Bobby Fida
I’m an Optometrist with a range of experience from across the optical sector both as a clinician and within support office or professional services. I am currently working 3 days/week as Principal Optometrist at Newmedica where I am responsible for training, development and CPD planning and design. This is in addition to serving my second term for the GOC’s Fitness to Practise Committee as a Registrant Hearings Panel Member. I have been fortunate to have worked as Advancement Lead for LOCSU from 2021 to July 2024 where I served as the primary point of contact for all LOCs in the North East and Yorkshire region. I actively promoted primary eye care and supported LOCs in fulfilling their statutory duties. My work involved building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders and enhancing collaboration across sectors to improve eye health services, which has been very useful as committee member for Wakefield LOC. When I am not working, I cherish long walks and love the simplicity of being outdoors. I enjoy baking and improving my cooking skills through my Instagram addiction. I love all things arty and creative and dabble in various mini projects when I can.
