NTWLOC continue to work with NuTH to lobby for the commissioning of CUES and Glaucoma services across the North ICP area. The progress of this has been painfully slow with financial challenges cited as the reason for lack of progress. We remain hopeful and continue to explain the limitations of GOS and the need for an appropriately resourced service, commissioned locally.
Please continue to follow guidance and in the absence of a commissioned CUES service, please direct all urgent and emergency cases to the EED within secondary care. Please do not accept deflections from the EED that are not appropriate for GOS. We are assured that the local EED have sufficient capacity to see all patients, so patients should be examined and fully managed by the EED.
